For months, I have been traveling the world and sharing my experiences with you. While I plan on continuing my explorations, I am have taken a little bit of time off, so today, I will be sharing with you my favorite golf courses around the world. Not surprisingly, my views are shared, as these courses are all listed among the most popular courses in the world.
5. St. Andrews, Scotland
It’s hard not to appreciate the beauty and tradition of St. Andrews. Aside from hosting a number of elite tournaments for professional golfers, it incorporates the true beauty of nature. In fact, it is often referred to as the birthplace of golf, spiritual home of golf, and the world’s most famous golf course.
4. Cypress Point Club, California
Located at the foothills of the Saint Lucia Mountains on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, Cypress Point is one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. With only 250 members, it is hard for us regular folks to find our way onto the fairways; however, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to play a round. Let me tell you, it was certainly something to remember.
3. Pine Valley Golf Course, New Jersey
Pine Valley has been ranked number one in the world by GOLF Magazine every year since 1985. It was architected in 1918, which means that it will be turning 100 this year. Its unique beauty combined with the challenge of hopping from one patch of turf to the next makes it one of a kind.
2. Augusta National Golf Course, Georgia
The home of the Masters means more to me than other courses that might be considered prettier. One, I am a huge PGA fan, so Augusta marks the peak of golf season, when the best golfers in the world meet in Georgia to battle for the most prestigious major on tour. Second, it is another extremely exclusive club, making it truly special to have the opportunity to tee off on those links.
1. Royal County Down Golf Course, Northern Ireland
I may have become a victim of the moment with this selection, considering I was just in Northern Ireland; however, Royal County Down is a sight to behold. If ever given an opportunity to return and play on this course, I will sprint to the next flight, because it was that special to me.
