The Caribbean is full of beautiful islands that feature a stunning combination of oceanic views, tropical beaches, and mountainous volcanoes. Of course, the most notable countries that reside in the Caribbean include Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic; however, some of the most popular tropical paradises are featured on the much smaller islands. On my trip to the Caribbean, I decided to visit a few of those smaller islands to see what all the fuss is about, and let me tell you, it was beyond worth it.
Saint Martin is a small island located a couple hundred miles southeast of Puerto Rico. I spent the vast majority of my time in Saint Martin soaking in the sunshine on a variety of the island’s 37 beaches. After experiencing ten different beaches, I have determined that each one offers something unique for tourists. Orient Bay is the perfect beach for the party animal in you. Long Bay is appropriately named, as it is the largest beach on the island. Finally, Petites Cayes was my personal favorite because guests are required to hike about 25 minutes to reach the exclusive beach. The seclusion provided a peaceful state of relaxation, while I was still able to soak in all the beauty that the island has to offer.
The small 20-mile-long island of Aruba is located just 20 miles north of the coast of Venezuela. I spent less time relaxing on the beach here. At first sight, the amazingly clear blue ocean water left me breathless, so I knew that I had to some kind of aquatic activity while on the island. I opted to go scuba diving, and my experience was amazing. The coral reef that shadows the southern portion of the island attracts the most beautiful oceanic species. After that, I explored the many caves and cliffs that scatter the island.
Barbados is littered with beauty. I mean the tiny island produced Rhianna, so if that doesn’t tell you all you need to know, then you’re crazy. Nevertheless, I traveled to the furthest Eastern island to partake in the world-famous Crop Over Festival. No, I did not see Rhi Rhi wandering the streets, but I did enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. From the tropical fruit trees to the small street vendors, Barbados provided me with one of the most fun experiences of my life.
